The Black Atlantic

Everyone's (my) favorite Dutchman of former Shai Hulud frontman fame, and current Black Atlantic Fame, Geert van der Velde, put his new project up for free download on this website. I highly recommend that you make use of this rare yet generous act of free music.

The Black Atlantic are a pop/folk ensemble from the Netherlands, specializing in catchy melodies, moody atmospheres, and really smooth vocals, thanks to Geert himself. The new album, Reverence for Fallen Trees, is a standout collection of songs, some upbeat and some haunting.

Thumbs up.

They are playing SXSW as well as a few shows in MI, OH, and IL coming up. I will hopefully be attending the Chicago show at the Empty Bottle (27-03-'10 - Chicago, IL @ The Empty Bottle w/ The Cave Singers).
